MACARAN PRINTED PRODUCTS INVESTS IN PERFORMANCE SERIES P7
Press will enhance capabilities for Northeastern US label provider
St. Louis, Missouri, USA (DATE)
Mark Andy, the market leader in narrow-web printing press solutions, announces that Macaran Printed Products has purchased a Mark Andy Performance Series P7 in-line flexographic press. This is the first Performance Series press purchased by the Cohoes, New York, company which has been delivering high-quality printed film and film labels since the 1970s.
Selected to support Macaran in its high-volume, high-impact pressure-sensitive and film work, the P7 was an attractive solution because of its quick changeovers and superior quality output. As the company adds to its pharmaceutical and consumer goods offering and further expands into unsupported film and flexible packaging, the P7 resolves a need for additional capacity while also providing Macaran with increased capability. The combination hot air/UV, eight-color, 17 inch press includes a film package, multiple die stations, delam/relam, and rail-mounted web turnbar and constant tension laminator. This Performance Series press, scheduled for delivery in March, 2011, complements the existing Mark Andy LP3000 purchased in 2007, currently being upgraded with screen capability. In order to maintain a high level of accuracy in the proofing process, Macaran Printed Products recently purchased GMG colorproof software to drive it's Epson Stylus Pro 4880. GMG is a leading developer and supplier of high-end color management software solutions. Their customers span a wide range of industries and application areas including advertising agencies, prepress houses, offset, flexo, packaging, digital, and large-format printers as well as international gravure printers. In order to face the challenge of printing soft highlight dot head on, Macaran recently purchased an esko graphics product called Perfect Highlight. Perfect Highlight incorporates a number of methods to improve the printing of 1-2% highlight dots. This technology, in addition to digital platemaking, has not only widened the gamut of colors that we can now print but it's also improved our reproduction of vignettes and drop shadows, specifically in areas where harsh edges once formed.
